Phoenix Rocks Out

The alternative band Phoenix was founded in the 80's by three young French musicians (Thomas Mars Jr., Deck D'Arcy, and Christian Mozzalai) who met as middle-schoolers and have been playing music together ever since. However, it wasn't until 1995 that the band recruited it's fourth member (Laurent Broncowitz) and officially became a definitive rock band.

Phoenix became a self-financed entity in 1991 under their very own label, Ghetto Blaster. Although persuaded by many to sing in French, the group chose to maintain an English facade, insisting that their "music would not take lyrics in French."

From the very beginning of their career, Phoenix's upbeat mix of rock, electro, and pop proved to be a big hit abroad!
